Colds suck!

It is inevitable that when my children are around other children, even if those other children are not sick, they will pick up some virus and bring it home with them. Ugh. After our family reunion on the 1st, Decovin started in with a runny nose the next day which then led to a congested cough which then led to Camden's nose running which then led to an even worse congested cough than his brothers...OY!

Two nights ago was undoubtedly the WORST night for sleep ever in the Plummer household!! The boys both had their nose drops administered and were put to bed at normal time (8:30ish) and fell asleep fine, per usual. But at 11pm (right after Bob and I put our heads to rest) Decovin woke up crying...this is really odd for him especially...so Bob gets up to see what is wrong and through the crying we could not figure out what he wanted and nor could we calm him down. So Bob tells him to lay back down and try to go to sleep...so ten minutes pass and with Decovin still crying he goes back in and asks if he wants to lay in mommy & daddy's bed...yes, ok, he comes in (still crying mind you) and lays there for about 5 minutes and cries the whole time...ok buddy, what do you want? Bob tried taking him downstairs to sleep in the chair with him...that lasted 5 minutes also and then back upstairs to his bedroom and we asked if he wanted the light on...yes, ok...meanwhile the crying continues...so then we decide maybe the bedroom light is TOO much and try the closet light instead...(still crying...has only stopped for a brief 5 minute interval at most)...then he mentions that his mouth hurts...maybe he has a sore throat...we administer tylenol...so after 2 hours and 15 minutes of straight crying (1:15am) I decide to go in and read him a few stories and try to calm him down myself. This FINALLY works and he falls asleep...phew, now we can go to bed it is 1:30am now. At approximately 2am Camden wakes up crying and coughing and crying and snotting and crying and coughing...great...tylenol was administered along with some more nose drops and after an hour and a half of solid crying he finally crashes as well. So at 3:30am Bob and I finally got to go to sleep. Oh and Decovin still woke up at 7am! AWESOME!
Yeah, colds suck!

Hmm. Fun times. I don't know how your kids are usually, but when mine cry inconsolably for no apparent reason and are/have been sickish...usually means ear infections. Mine don't usually pull or tug on their ears like the books say...they just cry until you want to pull your own ears off.

How are the kids? Do you find that when you "spend the night" at different homes that the colds increase? I was just wondering. Sometimes that happened with my kids.

Rob always got something at Grandpa Beckers house. ( I think it was because of smoke and dogs and sleeping over etc.). He would get the itchy eyes, cough, drippy noses.

I somehow don't remember the other two getting that much of a difference. They got it after Rob gave it to them. lol Stacy had a lot of colds but I think it was the very drafty house.

Who am I, What am I doing here?? I don't know where my memory went!

Oh yeah it must be the remodel memory loss!!
