Bad News...

Today we got some disturbing news, the AFP test (see last posting for link to site) came back abnormal. The lady was very non-chalant about the whole thing and really upset me. She was just an average everyday person who has no medical background to back up any of her information that she gives out! I later called back to request a call back from my doctor when I was then informed that I had to make an appointment. Appalled of course, I tell her I would like to at least speak with a nurse then and finally they let me speak to one. She explained that the test revealed that I now have a 1 in 225 chance in having a baby with Downs Syndrome. The average is 1 in 800 according to my cousin, Amanda, who is studying to be a doctor as we speak! I love her! (Thanks for doing my research cuz!) So now the ultrasound will help us determine more...that is next week...now we just have to sit and wait!
